Emerson Burr Horsemanship Awards Program

ATTENTION, PONY RIDERS!

Vie for Monetary Grants to help offset equestrian costs.

The Deep Run Horse Show announces its participation in the 2008 Emerson Burr Horsemanship Awards Program sponsored by Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital.  The program is being offered at selected shows in each USEF zone and also at the 2008 USEF Pony Finals.

Open to USEF Junior members who are showing Regular, Green or Children’s Hunter Ponies at Deep Run, it will consist of two tests – a written test and a hands-on horsemanship test.  The young riders will be competing with others in their age group – 8 years and under, 9-11, 12-14, and 15 years and older.

Each child will take a written test; then the four children in each of the four age groups who score the highest on the written test will move on to the hands-on horsemanship test.  At year end the highest scoring child in each age group in each zone will receive a $100 monetary grant for furthering her education or offsetting equestrian related costs.

The dates and times when the written and hands-on tests will be administered at Deep Run will be posted and announced at the show.
